Lost, confused, and abandoned by reason
Stripped bare in the midst of a cruel winter season
Consummate victim of the Great Fall
In crippling pain and now forced to crawl
On knees not accustomed to bending,
On thorny and harsh, rocky ground,
With abiding dreams of an ending
To the pain he sees all around
And sleepless dreams unrelenting,
Of
A Peace that will never come…
A Love that has left him alone…
A Life of squandered splendor…
And a Death to suit such a one!
